about me
I am currently working as a postdoctoral associate with OceanX on the world’s most advanced research vessel, R/V OceanXplorer, where I manage the genomic programme and lead various projects using eDNA for ecosystem monitoring, biodiversity assessments or discovery of new species.
Previously, I was working at the Red Sea Research Center (RSRC) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi-Arabia, focusing on the usage of eDNA to explore ecosystems like coral reefs, seagrass meadows, and mangroves, but I am also collaborating with old and new colleagues on arctic ecosystems.
Using metabarcoding and bioinformatics, I am interested in finding bioindicators - ranging from marine microbes to megafauna - and new methods to describe changes in sensitive marine habitats and compiling catalogues of biodiversity using molecular methods. Ultimately, I seek to establish new strategies for ocean conservation and biodiversity assessments.
